We see fewer than 100 of these remaining on the streets today! This is what we do…provide secure environment training to actually do 5 things…
Feed the Hungry, Clothe the Naked, Shelter the Homeless, Preach the Gospel, and TRAIN DISCIPLES…how can you truly train disciples without on the job training?
Special thanks to Martha Pfeil for her special music to start us off Saturday, followed by Clyde Beavers, former Country Music star with a #1 Billboard hit record, a man who had Jerry Reed for a guitar player and Ray Stevens for a piano player on national television for the Dick Clark American Bandstand show…yet Clyde now sings for the Homeless every Saturday morning…the only Country Music Star to sing for the Homeless every week. For a few weeks each Spring and Fall we are open air without the tents! Great weather to enjoy the sun and breeze.
Hot Banquet Lunch of prime Chicken from Chick Fil A Rivergate, our sponsor since 2003, Italian Sausage, Meat Balls, Lasagna, Pasta from Olive Gardens, Rivergate and Hickory Hollow, Baked Potatoes from Red Lobsters and Longhorn Steak House, Bread, deserts, snacks from Publix in Hermitage and Antioch.
No wonder the Homeless love to have Church with us on Saturdays! 142 Homeless are waiting at their tables for our volunteers to serve this awesome hot food with hot coffee and “a cup of cold water in Jesus name”… all with great joy to be able to do work for the Lord to Feed the Hungry, Clothe the Naked… The Bridge Fellowship provided 2 Life Groups today for plenty of help!
THANK YOU FOR PROVIDING CLOTHING TO FILL OUR BUS COMPLETELY!
20 Year Pastor from Two Rivers Baptist Church, Richard Gay, now a Southern Baptist leader of North American Missions, counseled with these 6 Homeless making professions of faith!
Richard comes every week to our Street Ministries to counsel and pray with those who respond to our Altar Call, who want spiritual guidance to find God’s way for their lives. You may not recognize Jeff Bearden, Goodpasture and David Lipscomb University graduate, who became addicted to meth and lost everything…Jeff gave it all to God yesterday, so I have high hopes he will follow the plan I laid out for him to gain entry into our Men’s Training Center to be discipled. This can happen to anyone, good people get hooked, so don’t look down your nose at anyone who is
snared. We are commanded to help each other.
Richard Gay counsels those with no relationship to God to have one before they leave. Clyde Beavers counsels with those with specific prayer requests, one man in a wheelchair.
Clyde Beavers distributes Bibles to the Homeless while Praise and Worship music sets the tone for the upcoming Church service. These Homeless men were starved for the Word of God, and they will read these new Bibles Clyde just gave them… from his own pocket. The Homeless desperately need LARGE PRINT BIBLES, as they cannot read small print.
Clyde counsels Homeless without Hope, without a silver lining, some waiting for death.
Behind the bus is what the Homeless do not see, the cooking, sack lunch making, banquet serving, drinks serving volunteers who wait on our Homeless guests hand and foot, taking food and drinks to their table, service with a smile that shares God’s love with us all.
Volunteers sometimes get pictured in a group, but the fact is, they work hard at whatever role(s) they are given, without griping about who does what…unity in the body of Christ really works efficiently as our volunteers display it every week, and God blesses it I believe because of our unity! When this crew finishes serving the hot banquet lunch, the men start loading up the tables and chairs while the ladies either clean up or staff the Clothes Bus to distribute clothing to the 100+ Homeless who will line up after eating for these nice clothes that YOU DONATE!
When our 160 seat mobile cafeteria and Clothes Bus is all packed up, volunteers like these from The Bridge Fellowship, Mt Juliet, invest another 1/2 hour to drive our vehicles to this parking site at Ken Binkley Signs on Arlington Avenue, where we collect and store our stuff. Without guys like these willing to drive our vehicles each week, we struggle. We need drivers to pick up food and clothing donations and for Saturday ministries.
You who support this ministry have every right to be proud of it!
8 to Noon…HEAT, rain or snow, on Drexel Street at 8th Ave South, Nashville, TN just 6 blocks South of Broadway…left on Drexel Street, left into black iron fenced parking lot. We are directly across the street from the entrance to the new $14 million Room in the Inn facility that now has 36 apartments for Homeless men who
can pay the $500 rent!
