Full House of Homeless required us to add additional chairs just before the Church service started, an unusual but gratifying requirement…cups of cold iced water in Jesus name were as popular as the morning coffee served with a smile while our Homeless guests remain seated, as they listened and focused on God, our Creator, during our Praise and Worship…hungry for God.
New Volunteers today got us setup and serving before moving on to other Ministry work.
Volunteers from Judson Baptist hunkered down to do the dirty work…every pair of hands are needed each and every week for this ministry to function as the body of Christ is commanded.
Who will Feed and Clothe the truly poor and needy? God calls us to love the unloveable. Who will push this Homeless man who wanted to come in but had no energy to push his own wheelchair into our Church service? I found him weeping outside the gate because he had missed “Church”. I know him as a weekly regular who is not long for this world, whose only hope is his faith in God, facing issues and burdens alone no man should have to bear. He got his hot meal, clothing, and prayer for strength to meet his circumstances. Help us help him…
God’s child…Church, we are so fooling ourselves, to the point of lying to ourselves, to believe we can pick and choose which of God’s children we hang out with, and which we can abandon and pretend they are invisible, that they do not exist.
We are segregationists in God’s eyes when we only hang out with the materially blessed who believe as we do, with no clue how to meet the needs of the truly poor in spirit.
If we do not Feed the Hungry, Clothe the Naked, Shelter the Homeless, Preach the Gospel, and Train Disciples, we miss God’s Blessings that can only come to us
by obeying those commands. This is dirty work, not a social club function. We are all called.
